Good Afternoon Families,
New Early Childhood Playground Installation
We are thrilled to announce the upcoming installation of our new Early Childhood playground! The design promises to bring a creative new play space for our young learners.
We are currently finalizing the timeline for this project, with work expected to commence in October. For safety reasons, a section of the playground will be fenced off during construction. We will keep you updated on how this might affect school arrival, departure times, after-school care pickup and play options for students P-2.
Year 1 Phonics Check
Our Year 1 students have been participating in the Year 1 Phonics Check this past week. This assessment is part of the evidence-based tools used by Tasmanian Government Schools to support reading development. It evaluates how well students can decode written words and their progress in reading. The best way you can support your child to become a confident reader is to spend time reading with them. Even a few minutes a day can make a difference to their learning. For more tips on reading with your child, check out talk.tas.gov.au.
Open Classroom – Week 10
We are excited for our Open Classroom event on Wednesday, September 25th (Week 10). From 2-3 pm, parents are invited to visit classrooms where students will showcase their Science and HASS (Humanities and Social Science) Evidence of Learning. There will also be interactive STEM learning experiences for you to enjoy with your child/ren. Following this, we will gather outside at 3 pm for afternoon tea in the Primary play area, complete with some old-fashioned games.

We are excited to announce that Evandale Primary School has been successful in joining the Australia-Indonesia BRIDGE School Partnerships Program!
This connects Australian and Indonesian schools in a structured school partnership to foster international connections and build intercultural understanding. Our partner school is SD Smart Auladi in West Java. SD SMART AULADI_School Profiles.pdf This official website shows where the school is on the map, and more information about the partnership.
BRIDGE Program | Asia Education Foundation (bridge-program.org)
Each year, 10 Australian and Indonesian schools are invited to join the BRIDGE program to establish a new partnership, and the goal is to achieve a sharing, collaboration and building of the partnership that lasts for many years.
Our partner teachers will be visiting our school for a week from the 9th of November, and we are eager for our school community to embrace and support this experience. We encourage sharing of any ideas for introducing our visitors to the Evandale Community, and early next term, will be discussing host arrangements and a community event at the school.
COOKIE TUESDAY - PRICE INCREASE
Unfortunately there has been a price rise in our delicious kiss biscuits. As from next Tuesday, the biscuits will be $2.50.

Swimming & Water Safety Program
Over the last six days, the years 3-5 have been enjoying the Swimming and Water Safety Program at Hagley Farm School. During the program we have been learning about what to do if you are in danger in the water. We have practiced wearing a life jacket, reaching and rescuing and treading water. We have also been learning skills like breathing, floating and strokes. We have all loved the program.
