Good afternoon families,
The Playground Grand Opening – What a Celebration!
Wow, what an unforgettable community celebration we had this Tuesday afternoon! The excitement was buzzing in the air as we officially opened our brand-new playground – and what better way to kick things off than with the incredible Chilli FM duo, Adam and Izzy, back in action to help us cut the ribbon! Thanks to the generous support from Chilli FM’s School of the Year initiative, this dream project became a reality.
Our celebration was filled with energy as students, staff, and a wonderful group of invited guests and school supporters gathered together for the big moment. It was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a community comes together – anything is possible! Thank you to Mrs Bella Mitchell who co-ordinated and organised the special celebration.
A big thank you to all our wonderful guests who came to celebrate with us! We’d also like to extend a special thanks to Mr. Baxter from Baxter’s IGA, who organized a fun quiz and prizes for our students along with delicious Valhalla ice creams for everyone.
We feel incredibly fortunate to have such an amazing playground, one that will provide enjoyment for both our current students and those to come. Here's to all the exciting adventures awaiting us in our new playground!
Northern Midlands ‘B’ Swimming Carnival
It was a pleasure to accompany our Northern Midlands Swimming Team to the ‘B’ Swimming Carnival at Hagley Farm School Pool on Monday. The competition was fierce, and our swimmers’ made waves with many outstanding individual performances! Our team’s strength and depth were on full display in the relays, where we made a big splash, winning the Boys 3/4 and Girls 5/6 events, and securing third place in the 5/6 Boys relay.
A big thank you to all the families who turned out to cheer us on and support us from the sidelines.
Congratulations to the following students for representing our school.

Learning Conversations - Kinder Parents
Don’t forget to book in for a Learning Conversation about your child. Ms Rachelle Smith is offering 20-minute appointments to meet, share and discuss your child’s Kinder Development Check, and progress on their 2024 learning goals. There are timeslots available Tuesday 3rd, Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th of December in the afternoon from 3:20 until 5pm. Please book a time on Schoolzine or call the office and we will do this for you.
2025
As we approach the end of another school year, it’s a wonderful time to reflect on all that we’ve achieved together and celebrate the growth of our students. It’s also a time that can feel a little uncertain for some, especially for students thinking about the changes the new year might bring.
We’ve spent a lot of time planning and carefully considering what our school will look like in 2025. Our students are always at the heart of every decision we make, and we’re committed to working alongside you to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for your child.
There are still many pieces of the jigsaw puzzle to put together however we can confirm the following class structure and teachers:
Gumnuts Ms Rachelle Smith (Monday mornings)
Kinder Ms Rachelle Smith (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
Prep-1 Mrs Angela Lohrey
1-2-3 Mr Rob Moore
3-4-5 Ms Andrea Harlow (Mon/Tues) Mrs Tarin Kemp (Wed/Thurs/Friday)
5-6 Mrs Marcella Glachan
Class placement discussions for some grades are still ongoing as we carefully consider the best possible placement for each child, taking into account their individual academic, learning and wellbeing needs and strengths. We understand that this is an important part of your child’s journey, and we are working diligently to make thoughtful decisions that will support their growth. Once class placements for all grades are finalised, we will communicate this information with you.
Book Fair
Just a reminder about our special One Day Book Fair on Tuesday, December 3rd, in our school library! This exciting event features a ‘Buy One, Donate One’ initiative, where for every book purchased, another will be donated to help expand our school library collection.
The Book Fair will be open for purchases on Tuesday, December 3rd from 8:30–9:15 AM and 2:30–3:15 PM, as well as on Wednesday, December 4th from 8:30–9:15 AM.
Grade 5 Leadership News
Today our Year 5s participated in a Leadership Preparation Day. Students participated in two YMCA led workshops with Lauchy, designed to enhance students' social and emotional skills with a focus on building confidence, collaboration, and a sense of connection with each other - key qualities for our Year 6s next year.
Students had time in the afternoon to reflect on their leadership aspirations by considering the opportunities for roles and responsibilities through a leadership application and time to think about a speech which they will give to our Year 2 to 5 students next week.
We will encourage them to share their ideas with you and the application form MUST be returned to the office by Monday the 2nd of December for them to be considered for a leadership position in 2025.
First Aid
We hope our new first aid stickers (see image below) will help keep you informed when your child receives minor first aid at school, such as a band-aid for a small cut. For more serious incidents, like head bumps or if further medical attention is required, the school office will continue to contact you directly. We trust this will assist in supporting your conversations with your child about their day at school.

Congratulations to Charlotte, Bonnie and Lacey who completed the Devonport Schools Triathlon last Friday.
Don't forget our cake raffle tomorrow! Tickets are $1.00 each. Good Luck!!

Refurbished iPads for sale
We are currently updating our fleet of devices for student use and have a number of refurbished Generation 6 iPads for sale. They will be completely wiped, IT checked and sold in “as is” condition for $150.00 each. Please note that they will not come with a charger but these are easy to come by if you don’t have some apple chargers at home already. These iPads have absolutely nothing wrong with them, they are just over 5 years old now and DECYP has a policy that learners will have access to devices that are current and no more than 5 years old.
We are unable to hold devices and would prefer you come in person to the office to pay for and collect the iPads rather than sending them home with students. Payments can be made by eftpos or cash. At this time it looks like we have around 14 devices to sell.
As the students did such an outstanding job on collecting plastic bottles for our wasp control program, we'd like to give them the opportunity to do it again for term 4.
This time we're after containers that don't allow any light in - NO MORE BOTTLES
For example:
- Butter and margarine containers.
- large plastic yoghurt containers.
Diemen's Ridge will pay $1.00 per container.
The containers need to be rinsed, have lids and not be squashed.
Looking for Christmas present ideas? Join us for a special One Day Book Fair on Tuesday, December 3rd, in our school library! This exciting event features a ‘Buy One, Donate One’ initiative, where for every book purchased, another will be donated to help expand our school library collection.

A big thank you to Mrs. Sandra Becker and Mrs. Jan Stanton for generously donating their time to organise this wonderful opportunity. We look forward to seeing you there and helping to grow our library resources for all students to enjoy!
